Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education Curriculum
Welcome to the PSHE curriculum
Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) is our school subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, and prepare for life and work in modern Britain.
At Kingsway Primary School, we use our PSHE education to build, where appropriate, on the statutory content already outlined in the national curriculum, the basic school curriculum and in statutory guidance on: drug education, financial education, relationship, health and sex education (RHSE) and the importance of physical activity and diet for a healthy lifestyle.
PSHE education helps pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage many of the critical opportunities, challenges and responsibilities they will face as they grow up and in adulthood.
Wellbeing is our top priority and is part of our everyday check in, teaching and learning but we also ensure a rich PSHE curriculum timetable by using elements of planning from Jigsaw, GHLL PinK Safeguarding curriculum, SMSC, British Values and Awareness days and weeks. This enables us to meet the children’s ‘in the moment’ needs, as well as building on those golden threads, that strengthen key knowledge year on each year.
