Welcome to Heron class
Teacher: Mrs Mcdonald
Our PE slots are on
Monday – Hockey (outdoor)
Thursday – Dance (indoor)
Please ensure PE kit is in school everyday as we may use it for other outside sporting activities when the opportunity arises.
This term, we will still be continuing with our topic ‘Rio, Rivers and Rain-forests.’ The children will learn a lot of facts about this colourful, detailed topic. If you would like more information, simply click onto our parent overview.
Theme Homework will be given out on the Friday of the start of each small term. There will be 6 activities to choose from and we would like you to complete 4 of them. They will be due back in the last week of term.
Your support with reading is much appreciated and 15 minutes reading every night will make a real difference to their progress. As children come into school we would like them to hand their reading books into the class tray so that they can be checked and changed if necessary. You may like to initially help your child with this by reminding them as they enter the class.
We will also set a short maths task to support their learning in class.
We are also sending home 5 spellings weekly for the children to practise these will come home separately on a Friday to be tested the following Friday morning.
Each week the children will be given a homework activity (see below) as well as 5 spellings to learn.
Main Homework Tasks
The parent overviews are designed to inform parents of the different areas of learning, that will be covered throughout each theme. Take a look at what year 2 are learning in their current theme.
